A Korszakok Nyomában címen 1987 - ben Zürichben jelent meg elöszőr a Heritage Libary 

és az Inter - Euro Publishing 1989 - es kiadásában. 

A "Korszakok Nyomában" című könyvet Németországban a Biblia Druck nyomdában készítették

több ezer példányban, amely nehéz és fárasztó csempészés által jutott Magyarországra

az akkori Kommunista Rendszerben.

1987 óta ezen a címen Magyaroszágon nagyon elterjedt, 

mivel több ezer példányban lett szétszórva.

Az eredeti könyv angol nyelven csaknem száz esztendővel ezelőtt írodott. 

Szerzője E. G. White, akinek műveit 127 nyelvre fordították le. 

Ő a negyedik azon a listán, amely a leggyakrabban fordított szerzőket tünteti fel. 

Ez a könyv a „Korszakok Harca” könyvsorozatnak utolsó kötete, 

amely 1888-ban jelent meg először, azóta több mint 45 nyelvre fordították. 

A könyv a kereszténység útját követi a közel két évezredes történetén át.

Az alábbi képen az eredeti Zürichben kiadott könyv látható. 

Mellette egy rövid kiadás ( 96 oldalon ) amely több ezer példányban elterjedt.

A látható német kiadás szintén Zürichben jelent meg és az akkori Kelet - Németországba 

több ezer példányban szintén csempész úton kérült be.

                          Ellen Gould White (1827-1915)

Rendkívül termékeny szerző volt: Több mint 40 könyv (az ezekből különböző szempontok szerint összeállított gyűjteményekkel együtt összesen több mint 100), 5 000-nél is több újságcikk, 50 000 oldalnyi kézirat fűződik a nevéhez. Ezek kezelését a White Estate végzi.
 
Munkásságának igazi értékét azonban nem annyira az írott oldalak mennyisége mutatja, sokkal inkább azok tartalma: Olvasásuk közelebb visz a Biblia megértéséhez és legfőként Jézus Krisztus megismeréséhez. A szerző álatal terjesztésre és olvasásra leginkább javasolt könyvek:
 
- Pátriárkák és próféták (Patriarchs and Profets)- bevezetés az Ószövetségbe a teremtéstől Dávid királyig. Segít az ószövetségi történetek sokszor nehezen érthető összefüggéseinek, tanulságainak megértésében.

- Jézus élete (Desire of Ages) - Jézus Krisztus életének, szolgálatának, halála és feltámadása történek és körülményeinek nyomonkövetése. Az evangéliumokban lejegyzett események időrendbe állítása, a tanulságok számbavétele. Ez a könyv alkalmas Jézus Krisztus életének és személyének megismerésére.

- A nagy küzdelem (The Great Controversy) (Korszakok nyomában címen is megjelent). A kereszténység történetének áttekintése az i. századtól a történelem lezárulásáig.

​A múltat történelmi hivatkozások alapján dolgozza fel, a még előttünk álló időszakot pedig a Biblia próféciái alapján. Külön érdekessége a könyvnek, hogy világ eseményeinek és állapotának alakulása a mű 1888-as kidása és a szerző 1915-ben bekövetkezett halála után lehetőséget nyújt annak ellenőrzésére, hogy helyesen látta-e és jegyzete-e le a folyamatokat.

- Krisztushoz vezető lépések (Steps to Christ) (Jézushoz vezető út címen is megjelent) - A megtérés tapasztalatát átélő ember milyen lépcsőfokokon keresztül találja meg önmaga számára a személyes Megváltót.

- Gondolatok a hegyibeszédről (Thoughts on the Mount of Blesssings) - Jézus Krisztus népes hallgatóság előtt elmondott, Máté evangéliuma 5-7. fejezeteiben megörökített összefüggő tanítása Isten országáról.
 
Ellen G. White Irásai között külön kategóriát képviselnek a gyülekezeteknek és magánszemélyeknek adott tanácsai, amelyeket 9 kötetbe gyűjtve Bizonyságtételek a gyülekezeteknek címmel adtak ki.
 
Ellen Gould White prófétai küldetését sokan vitatják, szép számmal találhatóak ilyen vonatkozású kritikai oldalak az interneten. A kérdést azonban mindenkinek magának kell megválaszolnia, amit akkor tud megtenni, ha próbára tette, olvasta azt, ami felől ki karja alakítani az álláspontját.

Személyes tapasztalat alapján lehet eldönteni, hogy írásai és a bennük foglalt állítások összhangban állnak-e tartalmilag a Bibliával, és ugyanazon a hangon szólítják-e meg az olvasót (ld. Ján 10:27), ugyanazt a lelkületet árasztják-e, mint a Szentírás, valamint hogy hozzájárul-e emberi életek megváltozásához, a bűnnel való szakításhoz.
 
Sokak számára idegen, nehezen elfogadható az a gondolat, hogy a Biblia könyveinek szerzőin kívül más is prófétai tekintéllyel bírhat. Emlékeznünk kell azonban arra, hogy az Ószövetség idején is voltak próféták (pl. Nátán), akik nem írtak a Bibliába, mégis Isten választotta ki őket a szolgálatra. Jel. 12,17 pedig azt állítja, hogy a történelem végén Isten hívő népének egyik isméve a prófétaság lelkiajándékénak megjelenése lesz (vö. Jel. 19,10).
